A change of mood~

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

I realized I have been writing a lot of negative things lately, and to make up for it, I’m gonna blog about something happy today :)

I went for a steamboat buffet dinner with my friends on Thursday night. Eh, just between you n me la, it was my first time having steamboat buffet. Heck, I didn’t even know that they have buffet for steamboat -_-"

Kerryn went as well. I damn miss her lor. It’s been such a long time since we’ve met.

Pict0707

We sat together in secondary school for 2 years. She’s funny, witty, smart and beautiful (Don’t kembang if you read this, bangau). <Bangau is what Kerryn and I call each other> I forgot how we came up with that name, but I know I used that word a lot back in secondary school..hehe. Anyway, we won’t be meeting each other for quite sometime I think.

Since I was there, you can be sure that there was no lack of photo taking. Just that we were all too engrossed in talking that there weren’t much time to camwhore. Eh of course lar, so long didn’t meet each other..what do you expect right? :)

Pict0703

Don’t laugh. Maybe my photography skills were off the mark that day. But I think it’s because we are both too tall..hehe. Loke Lim is 180cm++ and I am ___cm. You guess yourself lor if you wanna know. I’m not too happy with my height. I wanna be taller okay??

Anyway, the food was nice. We took a lot of seafood and steamboat stuff like balls (no pun intended), mushrooms, crabsticks and jellyfish. Talking about jellyfish, anyone knows if jellyfish will melt under high temperature? Because the jellyfish always seem to disappear after we put it into the pot -_-" And Aaron said it might have melted XD

I curi curi took a picture of Hooi Hooi and Aaron, just because they look so cute together :) And then made them pose together as well. Cute hor? :)

Pict0701

Anyway,

GROUP PICTURE!

Pict0709

And the girls,

Pict0708

Pretty or not le? ;p

After that, we went to Spicy Kitchen to yamcha. Many people lor over there. Got lotsa lengzais too..hehe. What a feast for my eyes *sinister laugh*
But of course I didn’t take their pictures la. I don’t wanna be mistaken as a pervert >.<

240806_2247

We were supposed to ‘zhuang ke ai’ in this pic, but Aaron moved too fast and my hp camera was pretty lousy anyway. So I looked stupid in that pic >.<

Anyway, we took again but the picture turned up looking mysteriously dark, prompting Aaron to say that dirty things were manipulating our picture -_-"

240806_2249

See, zhuang ke ai pic.

Although I have to say neither of us looked ke ai XD

Another tirade of rants!

Gahh! I can’t believe I’m not allowed to go out anymore! I’m 18 okay? 18!! What’s the justification of keeping me at home? If you want me to help out with housework, I will. Just let me out after that! The funny thing is, I don’t do much at home. So that’s why I don’t understand the reason behind this whole thing. My mum isn’t making any sense. Okay, so she might be right in saying that I’ve been going out too often this past few weeks, but hey, I’m on holiday. You don’t expect me to sit and mope around at home all day right? It’s not my fault my social life is kinda active.

You see, the thing about parents are, they worry about everything! Believe me when I say everything. If their child stays at home most of the time, showing no interest in socializing, the parents will worry. Why? Worry la that their child is anti-social, end up with no friends, get diagnosed with depression, and commit suicide in the end. Okay, maybe that was too far-fetched but parents do worry about that. I’ve seen my mum’s friend who worries about her son because he doesn’t seem to have a social life. And she is literally forcing him to call up his friends and go out and have fun.

On the other hand, parents worry again when their child’s social life is active. They are afraid that their child will mix with the wrong bunch of friends and end up smoking crack at the back of a dirty alley. I understand why they worry. But this just goes to show that my parents doesn’t really trust me that much. And it’s sad because I know I am capable of distinguishing between good and bad people. I didn’t get into trouble before. Not even once. If my parents continue to control me so badly, I’m afraid that it will backfire on them. I know I sound like an ungrateful brat but think of it from my point of view. Not from their’s.

I know I know, do everything in moderation… I don’t go out every single day. At most, I go out 4 days a week. Weekends are for family bonding, and I, being aware of that, stay at home during weekends to accompany my parents (Okay la, a bit to show my dad that I don’t go out everyday as well).

I don’t ask for extra money. I save up on my allowance to go out. I don’t depend on my parents for transport. I either drive or my friends will fetch me. My academic performance is satisfactory. The lecturers have only good things to say about me to my parents (as proven during the open day in college). I don’t trouble my parents. I tried and am still trying my best not to worry them.

I know how to think rationally! Why do my parents find it so hard to trust me?

I feel like a trapped bird. Birds need to fly around. I need to go out!

You be the judge. Is it necessary to impose such a ‘punishment’ on me? I am trying my best to optimize everything lor honestly. I don’t see the need of trapping me at home…

What’s in a friendship?

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Friendship - It is undeniably one of the most important things in life. Many poems have been written about it and many songs had been sung about it.

Before you read on, let me tell you that this post is not about glorifying friendships. Hence, the sombre and grey theme.

People say that friendship is a beautiful thing.

Agree?

Most people would.

But those who have had the misfortune of being betrayed by their so called friends would beg to differ. To me, friendship is not as wonderful as those poets made it out to be. Sure, some people really do have sincere friends, but let me tell you, most friendships have its own secrets and conspiracies. So called heng tais n ji muis do hide things from one another, especially when it’s about the person’s friend itself.

Why would I say so? Well, I did not get betrayed by my friends, and I hope it would not happen to me as well. It’s just that I saw it happen to others. No, not on TV. In reality. And It’s sad.

Sometimes it just happens. People fall into dilemmas and subconsciously make a decision that would betray a dear friend, be it purposely or accidentally.

So how? We can still trust our friends, but not 100% I think. Make sure you know about friendship politics, especially between close friends. You might think that what I’m saying is not true or it might not apply to you. But it’s just a warning, and you might never know when it will happen to you.

I’m young at heart!

*Sighz* I’m sad.

Why?

Because many people told me I look mature.

Why la? Mature good wert..

You surely say good la. See what happens if you are the one getting these type of comments.

No ma, mature doesn’t mean old okay.

That was the typical conversation I’ve had with countless friends of mine. To me, ‘mature’ has always meant ‘old’. But many told me it does not. Okay…

So I went to www.dictionary.com and looked up on the word ‘mature’.
See what I’ve got:

ma·ture   Audio pronunciation of "mature"  ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (m-tyr, -tr, -chr)
adj. ma·tur·er, ma·tur·est

    1. Having reached full natural growth or development: a mature cell.
    2. Having reached a desired or final condition; ripe: a mature cheese.
  1. Of, relating to, or characteristic of full development, either mental or physical: mature for her age.
    1. Suitable or intended for adults: mature subject matter.
    2. Composed of adults: a mature audience.
  2. Worked out fully by the mind; considered: a mature plan of action.
  3. Having reached the limit of its time; due: a mature bond.
  4. No longer subject to great expansion or development. Used of an industry, a market, or a product.
  5. Geology. Having reached maximum development of form. Used of streams and landforms.

Hmm, so far, no mention about ‘mature’ meaning old..hehe. So I checked under thesaurus also lor. And the result:

Main Entry:  mature
Part of Speech:  adjective
Definition:  adult
Synonyms:  complete, cultivated, cultured, developed, fit, full-blown, full-fledged, full-grown, fully grown, grown, grown-up, manly, matured, mellow*, mellowed, of age, perfected, prepared, prime, ready, ripe, ripened, seasoned, settled, sophisticated, womanly

Wah, nice! See! Mature doesn’t mean old. Yay! Okay la, the next time someone tells me that I look mature, I won’t be so sad anymore :)  People always say, ‘You are only as old as you feel’. We have to trust those words of wisdom okay? And I feel like a 14 year old girl XD

Penang & Kedah Trip

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

I haven’t been blogging for quite sometime now. And I think I have writer’s block. Anyway, I’m gonna blog about my trip to Penang & Kedah over the weekend.

WARNING!: This will be a very long post. Do not proceed if you cannot take it.

I’m on my 2nd semester break right now, for 2 weeks. So last Saturday, my college pals - Fui Yee, Janness, Kevin, Boon Leng, Raymond, Eric & I went to Penang & Kedah for a holiday. It was supposed to be a 4 days 3 nights trip but something happened (Kevin’s dad needs his car back a day earlier), so we had to settle for a 3 days 2 nights holiday instead..heh. The funny thing was, I didn’t know we were going to Kedah. I thought it was just to Penang. I only found out on that day itself. Geng huh? Haha..we left KL on Saturday afternoon to Alor Setar because Janness’ house is there. We stayed there for a night lor. Played a fun (& pretty embarrassing game) that night, where I was almost always the victim >.< (I hope the pictures won’t get leaked out!). Then we told ghost stories as well. I got scared very easily lor, mainly because of what happened a few weeks ago (Let’s just say I saw something dirty). So it was very easy to scare me.

We were supposed to sleep in the rooms that night, but it was so hot in there that we decided to sleep in the living room instead. Yea, all 7 of us. We were chatting initially but then one by one, everyone started dozing off. Before we knew it, it was 5am already. So I went to sleep as well. Janness and Fui Yee stayed up talking the whole night though XD Secretive lar those two.. I wonder what they talked about the whole night.. *ahem* And when I woke up around 8am, those two were no where to be seen! But actually they just went out for breakfast with Janness’ parents la. What were you thinking?? I won’t blame you la.. I thought the same thing as well..heheh

Then we went to Penang lor in the afternoon. Checked into an apartment, where the receptionist complained we were noisy wor.. Crazy lor, cuz as far as I remember, we weren’t noisy in front of her. She made us wait kinda long just to catch a glimspe of the place we were going to sleep in that night. So well, bla bla bla, after we checked in already, we went touring around Penang with Kevin’s friend as a err..tour guide..haha.(Thanks eh!) We went to Kek Lok Si temple, took some pictures with the statues, then to a turtle place (I dunno what that place is called XD), then went to makan Asam Laksa. The taukeh said we were mafan because we requested for this and that. But hey, we are your customers wei. And customers are always right. Your Asam Laksa is not really that nice anyway. Made me sweat until I looked like I just bathed summore. >.<

After we makan-ed, we went to my favourite place - The BEACH! Yea, I love beaches. I’m crazy about beaches. And it has been ages since I’ve been to one. Actually I went to a beach in Korea earlier this year, but that doesn’t count lor.. cuz I didn’t get to play with sand that time..heh. I know lar Penang isn’t really famous with its beach but to me, the beach looked very nice that day.

Pict0485

See? Nice hor? You can check out the pictures in my friendster page. Homepage pun ada, the slideshow part.

We went back to the apartment to bathe after that before going to the pasar malam. They sell DVDs for only RM4 in Penang. And they have this 3in1 thingy too, 3 movies in a single DVD which goes for RM8. Cheap eh? And we buy pirated DVDs in KL for RM10. Cis, they kecek KL people’s money. After walking in the pasar malam, it was pretty late for dinner already, 10 something if I’m not mistaken. We went to Gurney Drive I think for dinner..heh..I’m not sure whether it’s Gurney Drive but I think so it is la. Don’t laugh at me if I got it wrong. Fui Yee and I walked around the whole place trying to order 3 things (One for Fui Yee, one for me and another one for Janness as well). We were such a big joke wei. We do not know how to speak Hokkien. So we tried speaking Mandarin, and we had to find stalls that can understand our language. By the time we finished ordering, the guys were already halfway through their food.

After we finished, we went to the beach side. It was already 11 something by then. Took some pictures, chatted a bit, then decided to go and sing karaoke. The place? - Redbox! They have redbox in Penang too, which I didn’t know about. Expensive lor, it came up to RM38 per person. And we sang from 12am till 3am. Actually I think we took more pictures in the room than actually singing..haha.

We went back to the apartment after that. I wasn’t sleepy lor eventhough it was almost 4am that time. Fui Yee and I stayed up chit-chatting for a few hours summore. And midway through our chat she fell asleep. Funny wei, one second she was talking and the next, she was asleep. Left me hanging midway there. It was around 6am that time, and the guys woke us up at 10 something in the morning. Very sleepy lor.

We went back to Alor Star that day. Then we went to a waterfall place, where we took even funnier pictures. The funny ones were mostly with Boon Leng in it. Eh, speaking of Boon Leng, his thighs are very erm..nice lar..haha..fair and smooth. A girl would die for thighs like that XD

Pict0475

See what I mean?

After that, we went to a sawah padi to take pictures. Don’t ask me, I dunno why too. But the scenery was nice.

Img_0425

I think the orang kampungs thought that we were weird. Why wanna take pictures with sawah padis? I mean, those people literally work in sawah padis their whole life, and to see other people being so interested in their sawahs is just…a funny sight.

Here’s a funny picture I took. It was completely candid XD

Pict0579

Well, it’s funny to me la..heh

For dinner, we had steamboat, prepared by Janness’ mother.

Pict0588

Very nice lor, his mother is very nice and the steamboat was nice too..heh. After dinner, we kinda lazed around a bit, then around 8pm, we headed back to KL. Aih..fun times pass really fast lor I tell you. Wish we could’ve extended it a bit more longer. Janness, Kevin, Fui Yee and I were in the same car. Kevin did the driving lor. Thanks a lot wei, I know you were tired but you still drove. We talked the whole way back to KL. And the journey back was over 4 hours! See how talkative we are. 4 hours of non-stop talking eh. Not a very easy thing to do..heh.

So that was my trip to Penang & Kedah. I know this post is too long. But I couldn’t help it..heh.. Sorry if you got bored while reading this XD But just try to imagine you were there yourself lar.. It would be better :)

Straight? Or curly?

Monday, August 7th, 2006

My dear fellow readers, I am in an extremely big dilemma right now.

STRAIGHT?

or…

CURLY?

I’m talking about my hair of course..heh. I’ve been having straight hair for the past few years now. In fact, I’ve been having straight hair for so long until most of my friends think that I am born with naturally straight hair *cough..Ivan..cough cough..*

So anyway, I think it is time for a change. The problem is, I do not know whether I will look good in curly hair or not. Obviously I’m not rich enough to visit the hair salon frequently to have treatments done on my hair, and it is considerably dry now, thanks to the multiple times of rebonding and dyeing (is that how you spell it?). And having curly hair might make my hair look even drier.

If you haven’t noticed, I’m a pretty vain image-conscious person. Anything regarding my looks are given much attention.

I am so so so soooo jealous of those girls who are born with naturally silky hair. Imagine all the time and money I get to save if I am one of those lucky ones. They practically don’t have to do anything with their hair and yet, their hair is nearly perfect. People like me are not so fortunate on the other hand. Without the wonders of rebonding, treatment and dyeing, I shudder to think of what my hair would look like.

I have until this friday to decide. My appointment with the hairdresser is at 1p.m on friday. I need to make up my mind! If I’m not going to curl my hair, I am going to snip it off, and crystalize perm it (Note: Crystalized perming is a form of straightening. The result is really smooth and silky straight hair). Of course, it’s not going to be very short. Just right below my shoulder, which is pretty short actually XD My hair is quite long at the moment, waist length if you don’t know. So shoulder length is a lot more shorter. I am certainly going to miss having long hair if I snip it off. But that’s the price to pay for an image change.

So anyway, since I crapped so much, I’ll just summarise what I am trying to say.

What do you think I should do with my hair? Straighten it, again? Or curl it and risk looking ugly?
Do you think curly hair will suit me?

Of course the final decision will be in my own hands, but who knows? Your opinions might help me an awful lot in making up my mind. So be generous and tell me your opinions. Please please, pretty please! =)

What do you think?

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

To my regular readers, I am sure that you have noticed the changes in my blog. Well, for a start, I’ve changed the theme. Friendster blogs kind of suck you know. Unlike other free blogs such as Blogdrive and Blogspot, friendster requires us to pay in order to actually personalize our blogs. I mean, I can’t even know how many people viewed my blog. Thanks friendster for such a wonderful blog. I am very impressed by your money-making scheme.

If I am so not satisfied with this friendster blog, why am I still blogging here you might ask. Well, I mainly blog here because it is convenient. You guys can straightaway link to my blog from my friendster homepage. And it would be such a hassle to start a new blog elsewhere and publicise it.

Screw you friendster. You are already making big bucks from those advertisers. Why are you imposing a price on friendster bloggers when all we want is just the same privileges that Blogdrive and Blogspot users have? We are the reason advertisers are advertising here. You should at least give us the privilege of an able-bodied blog. I can’t help but feel that we are being deprived of our blogging rights.

But anyway, I doubt you would pay attention to a single blogger like me. Which means that this post actually serves no other purpose other than letting me vent my frustrations.

******************************************************

So what do you think about the new theme? Better? Tidier? It will take some time adjusting to though since the layout is completely different. But fret not, the contents shall remain the same =)

Do you understand?

Saturday, August 5th, 2006

Before I start, there’s something I need to clarify. Something that is totally unrelated to the topic today.
I need you people to stop asking me to upload pictures/songs online and expect me to do it at that moment itself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to stop uploading pix and songs. It’s just that when I upload stuff through my USB port, I have to disconnect from the internet because my modem is using the only functioning USB port. Yes there are two USB ports on my CPU but get this: Only ONE is working. So the next time you request for anything, at least give me a few days to upload it la because most of the times my PC will be connected to the internet and I’m just to lazy to plug/unplug stuff into/from my USB port. It will be a violation of USB ports’ rights!! Don’t get it? Well, I’m sure you wouldn’t like people sticking stuff in and out of you all the time right? *ahem* That’s how it is for my USB port too! Haha, the analogy sucks but well, at least I made you get what I’m trying to say XD

O and today, I am going to share some tips with the guys on understanding your gal (or a gal you have the hots for) *winks*
Guys often complain that girls are hard to comprehend. Maybe ‘often’ is an understatement because if you conduct a survey, I reckon you will get such a result:

8 in 10 men openly declare that they do not understand women.

But actually, it’s not too hard if you know the, erm, formula. Okay la don’t get so excited first because there isn’t really a formula. It’s just my own understanding on how we girls actually think.

Let’s start with what we actually mean when we say something. Most of the time, we tend to talk in opposite meanings when it involves our own feelings. For instance, when we say that we do not want you to get us expensive things for our birthday, we mean that you SHOULD get us expensive stuff because it makes us happy. See? It involves our feelings; In this case, feelings of happiness. Of course as I stated earlier, this rule only applies when it has something to do with our feelings. Don’t get me wrong and dump the keys down the toilet bowl when your girlfriend asked you to be careful not to drop it in when you are doing your business. That’s just plain dumb. Be sure to know how to distinguish both of it.

And now, the part that most guys dread about. Do girls really care about how much cash you have in your wallet? Do we want you to shower us with expensive gifts all the time? The answer: NO. Providing that your girl is around the age of 15-22, this is true. Of course there might be exceptional cases where the girls are only after you for your money but if a girl really likes/loves you , I can tell you that what is in your wallet does not really matter. BUT, we do expect you to get us something expensive for our birthday (or any important occasions such as anniversaries) because the price of these gifts reflects how much you value our relationship. Imagine getting your girlfriend a cheap keychain for her birthday, no matter how unsuperficial she might be, there is no doubt that she will feel sad. Why? Because in her heart, you only love her enough to give her a cheap keychain.

BUT (yes, there is another but), if the girl is not your girlfriend, and you are actually after/chasing/kao-ing her, she would not like it if you shower her with expensive gifts if she does not like you. It will only make her feel guilty for using so much of your money when she does not even fancy you a bit. It is a major turn off. During the initial stage of chasing/kao-ing, do not spend so much on the girl, understand? Mainly it is because of what I said and also because it will make the girl think that you are using money to get into her heart. It will not work.

Thirdly, if we do not like you, do not bother asking us why. It’s either because you do not fit into the type of guys we like, or we simply do not have that type of feeling for you. Yes, reality is harsh. We might like you as a friend but when it comes to a real bf-gf relationship, it is a totally different thing.

Also, when we get jealous, do not put it off as something unimportant, especially when what we are jealous about involves another girl! We are only jealous because we love you. Believe me, there is no way a girl would get jealous if you do not mean anything to her. Why waste our time and energy feeling jealous and angry if you do not mean anything to us? So the next time your girlfriend gets jealous, be happy because she actually loves you and assure her that she is the only one in your heart. Mushy, but that’s the way it is.

Well, that’s all I can think about for now. What a useful guide to understanding girls..heh. How I hope there will be a guide to understanding guys as well. Do not tell me about the women are from Venus and men are from Mars book. That book does not really apply to teenagers our age and our culture. Some of the things in it might be true, but not everything. But I doubt any guy would spend time writing such a guide for girls yea? It is so not them. But then again, what do I really know about guys right? Guys are so hard to understand XD
