Work is no bed of roses

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

I just came back from work.

Yes
you read correctly, work! I assume that certain individuals may find
this a bit unbelievable since they always said that I am not the
part-time working type of person.

And unfortunately, I have
to agree with them. I am a gone case in this part time working thingy.
My first job lasted three days before I decided to fire my boss.
Although that wasn’t entirely my fault. I was subjected to perform a
lot of other miscellaneous duties in addition to what was previously
agreed upon before I signed up for the job.

You see, it was
right after my SPM, and college was due to start in 2 months’ time.
Coincidentally my neighbour operates a kindergarten cum childcare
center and she needed an extra helping hand at that period of time.

And
yadda yadda skip all the boring story of salary haggling and stuff, and
there I was, I landed myself my first job. My job scope includes
preparing milk for the children, feeding them during their meal time
and sing/ read them stories/coax/basically do whatever it takes to make
them go to bed during their nap time.

And what did I really
have to do? In addition to all that was mentioned earlier, I had to
also bathe them, teach them (worst job among all!), manually prepare
their homework, and clean up their poo poo!! I was also asked to hit
them if they were disobedient O.o Those children may sometimes resemble
the devil himself but they were too cute for me to lay my hands on
them. Suffice to say that they weren’t intimidated by Teacher Choy.

I could handle the additonal tasks but poo poo?! I wasn’t cut for that! No poo poo for me please!

After 3 long days I finally decided that I’ve had enough. I quit the job and applied for college at once.

And
back to my current job. It seems a lot easier if compared to my first
job. Deliver movie reels to a cinema in the morning and take it back at
night. Repeat this for 7 consecutive nights and that’s exactly what my
job is.

Problem is, the movie reels can only be taken back
after the last show is over and do you know that the particular cinema
has midnight movies every single night?? I had to wake up at 2 or 3 am
in the morning and travel to the said cinema in Kepong, and explain to
the personnels over there every single night what they are supposed to
hand over to me. That process alone takes up more or less 30 minutes to
complete.

By the time I reach home, it will be 4am or even
later than that. And then I have to wake up at 8.30 am the next morning
to deliver the reels to the cinema again at least an hour before the
first show starts. It’s wreaking havoc on my sleep patterns. Worst of
all, do you know how hard it is to force yourself to wake up when you
are so freaking sleepy in the middle of the night? It’s like going back
to school once again.

You could skip school once in a while but you cannot skip work!

And
I haven’t mention that those reels weigh a tonne! It’s so unbelievably
heavy! My hand muscles were aching after the first morning.

That
said, Dar insists on taking back the reels for me from the cinema every
night now because he couldn’t bear to see me waking up groggily in the
middle of the night. Plus the fact that my once in a month thingy pain
is killing me.

So instead of me working, Dar took over the
job for me and I’m the one who’s getting the pay. For the record
though, I still deliver those reels in the morning.

So let’s see, is my second job a success? Straight to the point a big fat NO la!

I shouldn’t be blogging about this. I might not get hired anymore in the future =.=

Maybe I should attempt office jobs like Cheryl and Hooi Hooi the next time I decide to jump into the working world.

p/s:
I hit a bird on my way back from work just now. It grazed my windscreen
and I could see its horrified face and I’m sure it could see mine too.
I’ve always thought that birds are pro at avoiding oncoming cars. But I
shouldn’t be so sure after my dad hit and killed a kingfisher bird a
few years ago while we were on a holiday at some island.

p/p/s: Nope the birdy I hit didn’t die.

You
know how sometimes certain things which certain people say can really
annoy you non-stop? It doesn’t matter whether these comments are made
in person or written in their blogs.

I have to say that some people really don’t use their brains before they speak or write.

Okay,
I can understand if it’s just a slip of tongue when people are talking
but what about those who blog about it? A slip of the tongue? These
people have plenty of time to think about what they want to say, or in
that case, write.

And it really pisses me off when these
people decide to declare to the world to "stop reading my blog if you
don’t like what I say" OR "it’s my blog so I will say what I like".

I can stop reading your blog.  Really. It’s not like I will get 10 times smarter everytime I read what you have to say.

BUT,
what is the use of ’stop reading your blog’ if I have already read the
parts that made myself angry? Are you dumb? Or did you not use your
brains again?

Yes, say all you want that you don’t care. You
are just an insensitive jerk who types away blindly oblivious to what
others are feeling. But I’m telling you, when your blog is open to the
public eye (meaning it’s not a private blog), you are responsible for
every word you have decided to type.

So the next time before
you start firing words on your blog like the whole blogosphere belongs
to your grandpa, please just use your brains. Stop pissing off everyone.

You
know what’s so fun about blogging? Yea, being able to speak up and pour
your feelings out in the form of words are part of the enjoyment.

But
I feel that the greatest joy is being able to read back the entries you
have written after a few years and discover how much you have changed
over that period of time.

I have not been blogging that long
to be able to do so. As far as I can remember, I officially started
blogging in Friendster about urine on toilet seats because I was too bored and pissed (pun intended).

And
that was almost two years ago. After that, I started blogging
occasionally. Comments from people whom I know and do not know really
made some of the unbearable days in my life a wee bit more bearable.

And then I did a stupid thing; I started to blog in Multiply
and abandoned my Friendster blog. The comments were still encouraging
but it was a lot lesser than what I got from blogging in Friendster.

It
did not matter much to me then. And then earlier this year I switched
to Blogspot because, well, if you have been reading my entries from the
start you would have known.

Last week, I somehow stumbled
upon my Friendster blog and I was surprised to find that I used to
receive a lot of comments when I blogged there. One popular entry even garnered 60 comments!

60 comments! That’s like what celebrity bloggers get per entry!

I
started to miss the comments I get from others but I guess there’s no
point to switch back to Friendster now since the readers’ base is
already lost.

And now with this screwed up template + my
knowledge (or lack of) in HTML codes, I don’t even have the ‘leave a
comment’ option available for friends to leave their comments!

Don’t
tell me to revert my templates back to the default templates available
from Blogger. Simply because I want my blog to look different. I think
it adds to the exclusive factor.

Anyway, back to the joys of
blogging! It’s fun and nostalgic even when you read back your old
entries. You’ll be amazed to find that you’re a different person
altogether now compared to then, how you used to be so naive about
life, and how you think you could make it different and better if you
were given another chance to do it all over again.

That’s
how I feel. It’s fun to laugh at your old self. And I know I will be
laughing at myself a few years from now when I re-read the entries I’ve
written this year.

Watched Fantastic 4 with the MYB gang last week. A total of 12 of us went.

Our tickets. (Grabbed this photo from Evie’s blog.)

Somehow
I couldn’t reach Evie. She’s not replying me on MSN nor is she replying
me through SMS -_- Maybe she has decided to disown this friend already
-___-

Anyhow, we took pictures with the Silver Surfer! For your information, he is NOT the villain in this movie.

Eh..what la? We’re all not looking at the camera -_-"

Ahh..that’s better :)

Dar wasn’t in the picture because he was the one holding the camera…

Us :) And I dunno why I looked so happy..lol

After the movie, we headed to Uncle Don’s at Sri Hartamas for some Shisha-ing action!

Call me a jakun but this was the first time I’ve ever seen or heard about Shishas.

Everyone
was eager to have a go at the shishaing including moi. They have
strawberry and apple flavours and God knows what else. It’s something
like smoking where you have to inhale it and puff it out but instead of
smelly cigarette taste, you get fruity taste instead depending on which
flavour you are smoking.

Warning: It contains nicotine!

Su Anne having a go.

Her first time

Dar doing it in style :)

And presenting the Taiko……………
That’s a hell lotsa smoke!

The piece of fattening yet delicious waffle that everybody said they wouldn’t order, but did anyway :)

Like
I said, Lordee is always ready for the camera. I think he must be a
celebrity in his past life. Someone like Lindsay Lohan..lol

Me, looking mischievous. But really, I’m just a little angel. *runs to bathroom and pukes*

My fave, Su Anne being camera shy ;p

And Natasha promoting her blusher :D

And the highlight of the week, well, for me at least,

A saman!! (Click on it for a larger view)

Yes, a saman!!! I parked in a place for motorcycles and I got saman-ed!!! &%&^$%!!!!!
I have yet to go to the police station and settle it. I am super busy,
forgot? I am only taking time out from the preparation of my Powerpoint
presentation tomorrow to blog. :(

I ‘earned’ the saman
in Bangsar, near Justin’s music school. Damn that place is always
filled with cars. That’s why I resorted to the motorcycles’ space. It’s
not like mine was the only car there. I only followed suit :(

Anyway,
Fire & Ice night. I tell you, I sacrificed a lot, and I mean a lot
for this stupid event. Dunno why I did. I just did. Maybe I am stupid.

As usual, camwhore in the car.

At TropiQ

Muaxxx!

This pic is taken with Nat’s hp camera because mine died on me :(

Melinda styling Dar’s hair on the event night.

Before I can blog further, I need to wait till I get the pictures from Carmen and Azwar, the official photographer for the night. So, hang in there!

Lastly, some random pictures:

Yummy chicken wings, which I still devoured even though there’s an outbreak of bird flu.

Plate of Hokkien noodles which Dar ordered and left untouched. Looks like a plate of worms huh? ;p

The total glasses of drinks Dar & I had. Geng-ness. Mind you, only the two small glasses belong to me.

Now I gotta get back to my powerpoint… GRRR!

Helllllllloooooooooooo!

I am deciding to post entries in Friendster once again!

I dunno how to configure the comments thingy in my blogspot blog so currently, no one can leave any comments!

And I get more readers in Friendster anyway. Hehehe.

Just so you know, I will continue blogging in blogspot but I will repost the same entries here.

Disasterous mane of mine

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

ARGGHHH!
The outcome of the rebonding session did not materialize as I had
assumed. It’s horrific! My head looks like it is draped with a bad
quality thin cloth! Suffice to say that I won’t be posting pictures of
it. :(

Anyway, the service is good. They offer after-sales
service, in my case though, after-service service. Apparently they will
call back within 3 days to enquire about the condition of my hair and
whether I am satisfied with it.

Bummer for them. This customer is not a satisfied one.

They
rebonded the upper part of my hair only as the bottom is damaged. And
just so you know, the upper part is damn flat and it starts to expand
in the middle. I look so freaking funny that I am starting to get
depressed now.

Actually, I am already feeling depressed.

How
I am going to face the world with such a horrible looking mane? No
amount of make up or nice clothes or bags or shoes can camouflage that.

Although Dar said that it looks better than normal, I still can’t see things from his point of view.

Anyway, on a brighter side, the hairstylist said that Dar is close to extinction.

Lol,
close to extinction? I meant men like Dar is close to extinction.
That’s what the stylist said anyway. She said that usually guys won’t
wait for their girlfriends/wives to finish doing their hair in the
salon, and that they would rather go home and wait or go jalan-jalan elsewhere and come back only after the girlfriend/wife is done.

Dar makes a lot of girls envy me. (Ok that sounds wrong but I dunno how else to put it)

Which is not a really good thing because I’m starting to feel green-faced monsters materializing around me.

But it is worth it. I am so sayang-ed by my lou gong zai! Hehe…

Envy all you want! I don’t give a ****!

Huh? Vulgarities? Where? I didn’t write anything vulgar la.. It’s all in your head!

I bet you hate me now.

Rants! And more rants!

Finally
it’s the end of the week. This week has been such a hectic one that I
haven’t had time to catch a breather. Skipped an important class which
caused me to lose 5% of the overall course marks just to finish an
assignment.

For the record, I didn’t know that there was gonna
be a 5% presentation on that day. So much so for my A. It’s gone, down
the drain, just like that.

Having not-so-cooperative group
members didn’t help my assignment much. Fortunately there were at least
two who were concerned about it. But that doesn’t mean that I can relax
because I had to finish what the others did not do. Suffice to say that
I am now officially in the lack-of-sleep club. It sucks.

If it weren’t for my darling who made things better for me, I guess I would have cracked already.

Anyway,
amidst the life on the fast lane, I had time to practice with Nat and
Justin for our performance on Fire & Ice night. The first practice
did not go too well as we have not decided on which songs to sing. We
told ghost stories that freaked me out instead.

Real ghost
stories which Nat encountered himself. One of the settings was in the
car some more. Damn scary wei, I had to drive home alone that night.
The highlight of the story was when Nat saw a ghostly head between two
of his friends who were sitting in the backseat. Suffice to say that I
felt the creeps every single time I looked in the rear view mirror on
the way back home.

Driving has never been this scary.

Nat & Justin+ his smoke

We
worked hard preparing for Fire & Ice night, and I really hope it
will not flop. Although the odds are kinda against us :( Don’t get me
started on this event. Our lecturer pretty much pushed us down the
cliff by making us organize this.

We had no prior experience or
expertise to organize such events before. We did not have any start up
cash. And we don’t have enough time to plan everything thoroughly! It
is just a short semester of 8 weeks. Minus the last week of exams, it
is only 7 weeks.

How on earth does she expect us to get out of
this alive?! Anyway, things doesn’t look as grim now as it were before.
Probably because I got immune to the hype about it by now.

I just hope that I won’t humiliate myself on stage. Gosh I really hope that no one will chant boos at us :(

After
I handed up my assignment yesterday afternoon, I met up with the malau
gang at Spicy’s at night. Dar was in Klang so he couldn’t join us. And
there’s one thing I don’t understand.

Why do people always like
to snap candid pictures of me? I always thought that only the people
who have the hots for me would do that (cause that’s what all of my
ex-es did), but apparently not! Even friends are doing that to me.
GRRRR!

Why not snap another person? Why me??
Just to clarify things here, I like to camwhore. So what’s the difference right? Both are taking pictures too right?

WRONG!

When
I camwhore I pose with my best angle (left! you bonehead). When people
snap candid shots of me, it is most probably not my left angle. And I
like to look nice in pictures!!!

That sums up my dislike of
candidly taken pictures (although I like to snap candid pics of my
friends). Hohoho, that’s another thing altogether ;p

I have the
talent to be a candid shot photographer. I always seem to capture the
right moments when my friends are doing something funny. It all started
back in Form 4 :) Hooi Hooi and Cheryl know best about it huh? *winks*
I forgotten where that picture is now though, somewhere in my old
computer. When I get it back I’ll post it…hehehe.

***********************

Dar and I look ghostly!

Ahh~ way better :)

Dar
and I brought my bro to get a haircut last Sunday. At first we went to
The Curve because I wanted to get myself some pirated photoshop
softwares..hehehe.

*Poser!*
Just the lovebirds

Eh before I forget, the pirated softwares are useless!!! I bought 2 CDs at RM40 and it wouldn’t work!!!

I’m
going back this Sunday to get an exchange but mum said they won’t let
me do so since it’s more than 3 days after the purchase! @.@
WTFKNNOMFGCB!!! Is there such a rule? I don’t care! I am gonna get an
exchange no matter what! I was so busy I couldn’t go there this whole
week.

GRRRR!!

The pirated CDs aren’t anywhere near cheap but still, it is a lot more cheaper than the originals la. So boh bian,
I still will continute buying pirated softwares in the future. Money is
hard to come by you know. And money is especially hard to come by to me!

Anyway,
the salons in The Curve are so expensive that we ended up in Kota
Damansara. The salons there are really affordable and they don’t give
you crap service like the one near my place.

While my bro got
his hair snipped off, I asked the hairdresser few questions about my
hair. My present hairdresser is not willing to rebond my hair for me
cuz it’s damaged! And it’s damaged so badly because of her little
sister! The last time I went to rebond my hair at her salon, she let
her younger and more inexperienced sister to do it for me.

My
hair ended up damaged and does not even look like it has been rebonded.
And she said she can’t do it for me again because it is too damaging!

So
how? I had to live with crappy looking hair for 6 months till she is
willing to rebond my hair for me again. Not for free okay! And she
never gave me any discounts for hair treatment! Crap!

Anyway, as
I was asking the hairdresser in Kota Damansara, somehow it occurred to
me that I can do my hair here! Hah! I’m not required by law to go to my
present hairdresser’s salon, I go there because it is cheap and it’s 5
minutes away from where I live.

My present hairdresser is sulky
and she knows my mum! Haha! You’re wondering what has that gotta do
with my choice of salon right?

Do you know how people always
have long chats with their hairdressers while they are getting their
hair done? I can’t possibly do that with hairdressers whom my mum
knows. My stories (which I of course do not want my mum to know about)
will somehow find its way to my mum.

I don’t blame the hairdressers though. They are naturally kepoh.

So
I made an appointment at the salon, it’s called Radical Salon or
something, for this coming Sunday. Dar is coming with me and we are
both getting our hair done :)

Now
I have my own hairdresser, who does not know my mum! Although it is
slightly more expensive and further than my current hairdresser’s
salon, it is still worth it.

And here’s how my bro looked after his haircut

Don’t
let the picture fool you. He looks way better in real life. I guess it
must be the flash. Flash has a weird way of making people look weird at
weird times.

At least in real life his face doesn’t look oily.
That’s why when you are dealing with flash, you gotta make sure that
your face is completely oil-free.

You might not look oily in
person, but when flash gets its hands on you, you will just morph into
Oily *insert your name here* In my case it will be Oily Adrina.

Which
is also why I insist on using foundation at all times when I’m out. I
camwhore all the time. And I mean all the time. Just ask the people who
know me :)

p/s: My holidays will start 3 weeks later. I will be free for 2 months! Can’t wait!!! Muahahah!
