Work is no bed of roses

I just came back from work.

Yes
you read correctly, work! I assume that certain individuals may find
this a bit unbelievable since they always said that I am not the
part-time working type of person.

And unfortunately, I have
to agree with them. I am a gone case in this part time working thingy.
My first job lasted three days before I decided to fire my boss.
Although that wasn’t entirely my fault. I was subjected to perform a
lot of other miscellaneous duties in addition to what was previously
agreed upon before I signed up for the job.

You see, it was
right after my SPM, and college was due to start in 2 months’ time.
Coincidentally my neighbour operates a kindergarten cum childcare
center and she needed an extra helping hand at that period of time.

And
yadda yadda skip all the boring story of salary haggling and stuff, and
there I was, I landed myself my first job. My job scope includes
preparing milk for the children, feeding them during their meal time
and sing/ read them stories/coax/basically do whatever it takes to make
them go to bed during their nap time.

And what did I really
have to do? In addition to all that was mentioned earlier, I had to
also bathe them, teach them (worst job among all!), manually prepare
their homework, and clean up their poo poo!! I was also asked to hit
them if they were disobedient O.o Those children may sometimes resemble
the devil himself but they were too cute for me to lay my hands on
them. Suffice to say that they weren’t intimidated by Teacher Choy.

I could handle the additonal tasks but poo poo?! I wasn’t cut for that! No poo poo for me please!

After 3 long days I finally decided that I’ve had enough. I quit the job and applied for college at once.

And
back to my current job. It seems a lot easier if compared to my first
job. Deliver movie reels to a cinema in the morning and take it back at
night. Repeat this for 7 consecutive nights and that’s exactly what my
job is.

Problem is, the movie reels can only be taken back
after the last show is over and do you know that the particular cinema
has midnight movies every single night?? I had to wake up at 2 or 3 am
in the morning and travel to the said cinema in Kepong, and explain to
the personnels over there every single night what they are supposed to
hand over to me. That process alone takes up more or less 30 minutes to
complete.

By the time I reach home, it will be 4am or even
later than that. And then I have to wake up at 8.30 am the next morning
to deliver the reels to the cinema again at least an hour before the
first show starts. It’s wreaking havoc on my sleep patterns. Worst of
all, do you know how hard it is to force yourself to wake up when you
are so freaking sleepy in the middle of the night? It’s like going back
to school once again.

You could skip school once in a while but you cannot skip work!

And
I haven’t mention that those reels weigh a tonne! It’s so unbelievably
heavy! My hand muscles were aching after the first morning.

That
said, Dar insists on taking back the reels for me from the cinema every
night now because he couldn’t bear to see me waking up groggily in the
middle of the night. Plus the fact that my once in a month thingy pain
is killing me.

So instead of me working, Dar took over the
job for me and I’m the one who’s getting the pay. For the record
though, I still deliver those reels in the morning.

So let’s see, is my second job a success? Straight to the point a big fat NO la!

I shouldn’t be blogging about this. I might not get hired anymore in the future =.=

Maybe I should attempt office jobs like Cheryl and Hooi Hooi the next time I decide to jump into the working world.

p/s:
I hit a bird on my way back from work just now. It grazed my windscreen
and I could see its horrified face and I’m sure it could see mine too.
I’ve always thought that birds are pro at avoiding oncoming cars. But I
shouldn’t be so sure after my dad hit and killed a kingfisher bird a
few years ago while we were on a holiday at some island.

p/p/s: Nope the birdy I hit didn’t die.
